Transfering my chat history using same device

Keep History or Delete History works when you’re signing in to the same device you signed out of.

Using Different Device

There's currently no option to transfer your chat history between platforms. So if you’re going to change your device, your history will be deleted either way. This may not be convenient for some users, we understand, but our severless system has been developed for ultimate security reasons. We prioritize security in all our decisions.

Using Zangi on multiple phones/numbers

Your Zangi account can only be verified with one number/email (at a time) on one device (at a time).

I want to use multiple numbers/ emails

  • If you have a dual SIM phone, please note: that you must still choose one number to verify with Zangi. There is no option to have a Zangi account with two phone numbers at the same time.

  • But you if want, you can create multiple accounts (different numbers or emails), set passwords for them (app SettingsYour Profile section → Set Password) and alternate between accounts by signing out/signing in (app SettingsYour Profile section → Sign Out).

I want to use multiple devices

Zangi can only be activated with one account on one device at a time. This means to use your account on a different device, you’ll be automatically signed out of the 1st device. When signing out, you’ll be asked whether you want to: Keep History or Delete History. But if you’re going to change your device, your history will be deleted either way. Deleting my Zangi account

If you decide to delete your Zangi account, go to app SettingsPrivacyDelete Account. Once you delete your account, you will lose your entire communication history, including messages, call history and profile info.

What happens if I delete my account?

As just mentioned above, all your data will be flushed from our system: all messages, groups, and the contacts associated with your account will be deleted. That said, your contacts will still be able to chat in the groups that you have created, and they will still have their copy of the messages you sent them.

Termination of a Zangi account is irreversible. If you sign up again, you will appear as a new user and will not get your history, contacts or groups back. People who have your phone number in their contacts, will be notified. The new user will be displayed as a separate conversation in their messages list and their conversation history with this new user will be empty.

Seeing your phone number already in Zangi

Most Zangi accounts are tied to mobile phone numbers. Since it is common for phone numbers to be recycled by mobile providers, it is possible that the previous owner of your current phone number used Zangi.

If the previous owner of your phone number did not delete their Zangi account, you and your contacts may see your phone number in Zangi before you activate a new account. You may also see someone else's profile photo and attached to your phone number.

There is no need to worry. This only means that the previous account was not deleted, so old information still exists in the system. This does not mean that the previous owner of the phone number has any access to the Zangi account you activate with your new phone number. Your conversations and other Zangi data are secure.

My phone was stolen. What should I do?

First of all, sorry about your phone.

Good news: there are 3 ways to recover your account. Also you can contact us to delete your account in such cases. But common thieves usually throw out the SIM card immediately (the phone is harder to locate this way), then wipe the devices and sell them, so there isn't much risk for the data in case of regular petty theft.

Bad news: Unfortunately, there's currently no option to transfer your chat history between platforms. So if you’re going to sign in to your account from a different device, your history will be deleted either way. We have this measure for security reasons. How to recover your account:

  • If you were registered with email, you’re in luck. Simply download Zangi on a different device and request a new verification code. When signing into your account on the new device, you’ll be logged out from the previous device. You can continue using your account, but your history, unfortunately, will be wiped out on the new device.

  • If you had already set a password before your phone was stolen, you can still recover your account. Download Zangi on a different device and enter in your password. When signing into your account on the new device, you’ll be logged out from the previous device. You can continue using your account, but your history, unfortunately, will be wiped out on the new device.

  • If you were registered with phone number and you’ve forgotten or don't have a password: first and foremost, contact your phone provider, so that they block your old SIM and issue a new one with your number. Wait till you receive your new SIM with the old number, and log in to Zangi. When signing into your account on the new device, you’ll be logged out from the previous device. You can continue using your account, but your history, unfortunately, will be wiped out on the new device.

  • If your phone was stolen, you can contact us and we will consider deleting your account. To prove the account was yours, we will ask some questions - before we delete the account.
