Can I download Zangi on a PC or Mac?

Zangi is currently available only on mobile devices. A desktop version for PC and Mac is planned for the future.

Do I need a phone number, email address, or SIM card to create a Zangi account?

Zangi does not require a phone number or email address to create an account. When you register, Zangi automatically generates a unique Zangi Private Number for you. You can share it with people you want to connect with on Zangi.

How do I create a Zangi account?
  1. Tap Register.
  2. Read and accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
  3. Add your name and profile picture if you want. This step is optional.
  4. Set a password. This is optional, but recommended because you will need it to sign back into your account if you log out.
  5. Zangi will automatically generate a unique, random 10-digit Zangi Private Number for your account.
What is a Zangi Private Number?

A Zangi Private Number is a unique, randomly generated 10-digit number assigned to your account when you register. It allows you to use Zangi without providing your personal phone number or email address. To contact you, someone needs your exact Zangi Private Number.

Where can I find my Zangi Private Number?
  1. Open Settings from the bottom menu.
  2. At the top of the page, look under Your Private Number.
  3. The 10-digit number shown there, in the format XX-XXXX-XXXX, is your Zangi Private Number.
Can someone find my Zangi account without my Zangi Private Number?

Zangi does not have a public account search, so people cannot find you by your name, phone number, or email address. To connect with you, someone needs your Zangi Private Number.

Can I change my Zangi Private Number?

The Zangi Private Number linked to your existing account cannot be changed. If you want a different Zangi Private Number, you need to create a new Zangi account. A new Zangi Private Number will be generated automatically when you register.

Can I use the same Zangi account on multiple devices?

Zangi uses a one-account, one-device architecture, so the same account cannot be used on multiple devices at the same time. If you want to use Zangi on more than one device, you can create a separate account on each device.

How do I add or change my name, profile photo, and bio?
  1. Open Settings from the bottom menu.
  2. Tap your profile at the top of the page.
  3. On iOS, tap Edit in the top-right corner. On Android, tap the pencil icon.
  4. Update your name, profile photo, or bio, then save your changes.
What happens if I register without setting a password?

You can use Zangi without setting a password, but you will lose access to your account if you sign out. For example, if you uninstall Zangi or lose your device, you will not be able to sign back into the same account without a password. We recommend setting a password and storing it securely.

How do I set or change my account password?

You can set a password after creating your Zangi account. Go to Settings → Your Profile → Set Up a Password. If you already have a password and want to change it, you can do so from your account settings. Go to Settings → Your Profile → Change Password. We recommend storing your password securely because Zangi cannot reset or recover it if you forget it.

What happens if I forget my Zangi password? Can Zangi reset it?

Zangi cannot reset or recover your password. Zangi does not collect personal information such as your phone number or email address, and we do not store any information that could be used to verify your identity. For this reason, it is important to remember your password and store it securely.

What is the difference between Keep History and Delete History when I sign out?

Your chat history and files are stored locally on your device, not in the cloud. When you sign out, you can choose:

  • Keep History to keep your chat history and files on the device.
  • Delete History to remove your chat history and files from the device.

Choose Keep History if you want to keep this data on your phone. If you choose Delete History, the deleted chat history and files cannot be restored because Zangi does not keep cloud backups of your communication data.

What should I do before changing to a new phone?

Before changing phones, make sure you have set a password for your Zangi account and stored it securely. If you use Android, use Zangi’s Data Transfer feature to move your account and communication data to your new device. Data Transfer is not currently available on iOS. Because Zangi does not store your messages in the cloud or keep server backups, we recommend completing the transfer before you stop using your old device.

Can I transfer my chat history to a new phone?

If you are moving to a new Android device, you can use Zangi’s Data Transfer feature to transfer your communication history. Data Transfer is not currently available on iOS. Zangi does not store your communication history in the cloud, so your messages do not automatically sync to a new device.

How do I transfer my data on Android?
  1. On your old Android device, open Zangi and go to Settings → Transfer Data to New Device.
  2. Tap Scan. The camera will open.
  3. On your new Android device, open Zangi without signing in or creating a new account. Tap Transfer Data from Old device.
  4. Choose Wi-Fi Network or Bluetooth. A QR code will appear on the new device.
  5. Use your old device to scan the QR code shown on the new device.

Your Zangi account and data, including your messages and contacts, will be transferred to the new device. Once the transfer is complete, you will be logged out of Zangi on your old device and your account will open on the new device.

Can I transfer my Zangi account and data to a new iPhone?

Data Transfer is not currently available on iOS.

At the moment, this feature is available only on Android. Support for transferring your Zangi account and data between iPhones is currently in development.

What happens to my old device when I sign in on a new device?

When you sign in to your Zangi account on a new device, the account will no longer be active on your old device. Zangi does not sync messages between devices because your communication data is stored locally on your device, not in the cloud. If you are changing phones, we recommend using Zangi’s Data Transfer feature before switching devices. This feature is currently available on Android.

What happens if I uninstall and reinstall Zangi?

If you uninstall Zangi, your locally stored messages and communication history will be removed from your device. If you have set a password, you can reinstall Zangi and sign back in to your account. If you did not set a password, you will lose access to your account after uninstalling the app. Zangi cannot reset or recover the account because we do not store any information that could be used to verify your identity. Your previous chat history will not be restored because Zangi does not store your messages in the cloud or keep server backups.

How do I delete my Zangi account?
  1. Open Settings from the bottom menu.
  2. Tap Privacy.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm that you want to delete your account.

Deleting your Zangi account is permanent. Your account and Zangi Private Number will no longer be available, and your locally stored messages and communication history will be removed from your device. Zangi cannot restore a deleted account or recover your previous messages because we do not store your communication data in the cloud or keep server backups.
